Blues Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
Wed, 28 Jul 2010 23:20:31 PDT
pAfter the Blues pulled off perhaps the trade of the summer in the NHL, acquiring Montreal goaltender Jaroslav Halak, they have locked him up with a contract that many observers saw as another favorable deal for the team./p pThe Blues re-signed Halak to a four-year, $15 million deal recently. The $3.75 million average on Halak's contract is just slightly more than they were planning to pay former netminder Chris Mason, and Halak, 25, is nine years younger./p p"With Jaro at 25 years old, and where we believe his game is, and where it's going to trend toward, we think that we have a goaltender that we can grow with and know that we can count on," general manager Doug Armstrong said. "But I think we all need to be cautious and realistic.

King, a left winger, has spent four seasons with the Blues but has played in only 13 games over the last two seasons because of injuries. He dislocated his shoulder in the 2008-09 opener, and managed only 12 games last season due to a broken finger.
