Penguins Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
Wed, 28 Jul 2010 23:20:29 PDT
pThe Penguins face an interesting decision regarding versatile forward Max Talbot, who will play the final season of a contract that counts $1.025 million against the NHL salary cap./p pWhen healthy, Talbot is a reputably clutch performer, pesky penalty killer and valued dressing room leader. His eight goals during the 2009 Stanley Cup playoffs, including two in Game 7 of the final, cemented his status as a big-game player./p pHowever, Talbot was often injured last season and never found the stride that allowed him to take steps the previous season. He scored 12 goals in 2008-09, and the Penguins believe he can be a 15-goal scorer on a routine basis./p pStill, they are a cap-strapped team, and retaining Talbot will depend largely on how they assess his value this season.
