pThe Pacers believe they have solved their point guard problems for the present and the future./p pIndiana, which has dealt with point guard issues for the last few years, landed an up-and-coming player in Darren Collison from the New Orleans Hornets in a three-team, four-player deal. The Pacers also acquired veteran forward James Posey and sent forward Troy Murphy to the New Jersey Nets in the deal./p p"Just like I told Darren awhile ago, I think this is the piece we needed," Pacers president Larry Bird said. "We've got a lot of young talent here. Obviously, some of the guys are very new and raw. The vision I have for this franchise is to get the core group up and ready to go as quick as we can.

There are too many people who buy into the concept of the dumb athlete. As a matter of personal opinion, many of these stereotypes may be true, but I think there is some underlying jealousy amongst people in the world of academia about the money that people in the world of sports make. People are going to pay for what they want to pay for and if they shell out a bunch of money to go to a ball game while complaining about their taxes, that is their prerogative.

Brandon Rush of the Indiana Pacers was suspended for five games by the NBA on Friday for violating the league's drug agreement, while Tyreke Evans of the Sacramento Kings and Kenny Hasbrouck of the Miami Heat drew suspensions for driving offenses. Rush was suspended without pay for five games for violating the terms of the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program.
