One of the silver linings to finishing the season far out of first place, a Dodgers executive mused this week, is that it allows a team to make bolder offseason decisions.

On the heels of two consecutive National League Championship Series appearances, the Dodgers were looking to add the missing part to their team the last two winters.

This offseason, the Dodgers won't be blowing up the team and starting from scratch, but they will be a lot more open-minded about trading certain players. In fact, outside of starting pitchers Clayton Kershaw and Chad Billingsley, nobody is untouchable.

Chris Johnson was in the middle of one rough night when he came to the plate with two runners on in the sixth inning. One clutch swing later, and he was feeling good again. Johnson hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning and the Houston Astros rallied to beat the slumping Los Angeles Dodgers 3-2 on Thursday.

A current outfielder in the Milwaukee farm system could earn an unusual distinction in the near future. Brent Brewer is currently an outfielder for the Huntsville Stars, the Double-A team for the Milwaukee organization. If he puts up good numbers and the team promotes him to the Majors, he will play for a team with his own last name. He could very well become Brent Brewer of the Brewers. This coincidence has likely never occurred before in the Majors.
