Ubaldo Jimenez took the mound Thursday hoping to end the Rockies' season-high eight-game losing streak and to reverse his fortunes. He succeeded on both counts.
Jimenez was coming off his shortest start of the season—two innings Saturday at Philadelphia. He was 2-1 with a 7.64 ERA in his past six starts dating to June 23. In his first two starts since the All-Star break, Jimenez had pitched a total of 7 1/3 innings and allowed 12 runs, 10 earned.

Ubaldo Jimenez was back to All-Star form and the Rockies found their groove at the plate. It all adds up to one thing: A return to the win column for Colorado. Jimenez rebounded from two rough starts to pitch seven effective innings and the Rockies snapped an eight-game skid with a 9-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday.
